Chapter 14 (669-687)
Between 1450 and 1750, the Atlantic slave trade was developing. This is the time that shaped how humans interacted with one another. Also taking place during this time was, Silver being obtained from the mines of Spanish America, and fur from Siberia. Western Europe was gaining many benefits from the Silver and Markets were booming in both Europe and China. These key places became the countries that shaped the Modern Era. During the Voyage that took place in 1497 and 1499, for the first time India received new visitors fro Europe. In this conquest to India, the motivation for making this long boat ride was to retrieve spices like, cinnamon, mace, cloves, nutmeg, etc. Some of these spices were claimed to be aphrodisiacs, and some medicinal. My question is during the retrieval of these spices, was it civil or violent? And if it was civil, what did the people of India get in return for the spices? Currency? Land? Or something else?
